Going Out of Print -- An Article about School Libraries

I think we're on the right track.

Our fiction is flying off the shelves (being borrowed, that is), and our non-fiction is slowly being replaced by online resources that we're building via Castle Library's Learning Network and teacher and student-produced content.

I really like this article, because it paints a true picture of the challenges and opportunities for school libraries such as ours.

The accompanying article,

quotes David Loertscher, a learning expert I've respected for decades (yes, it's been that long!). This short piece offers ideas about how our library facility could be structured to be more conducive to collaborative learning.

It's an exciting time to be a school librarian!

P. S. Just subscribed to David Loertscher's blog School Libraries - Book Reviews, Research, Issues. Had the opportunity to learn from him at several conferences over the years-- this will be a chance to stay connected with his wonderful, forward-thinking ideas. Also, just ordered The New Learning Commons: Where Learners Win.
